Who can use the Dell Exchange Trade-In Program?
Dell Exchange program services are limited to individual consumer customers in the 48 contiguous continental U.S. states only. You must be 18 or older and be the rightful owner of the equipment for trade-in.
Dell small business, commercial and public sector customers are not eligible to participate in the Dell Exchange program. These customers may visit www.Dell.com/AssetRecovery to learn about Dell's commercial asset recovery services.
I live in Canada. Can I use the Dell Exchange Trade-In Program?
No. At this time, the Dell Exchange Program is open to residents of the contiguous 48 U.S. states only.
How do I use the Dell Exchange Trade-In program?
From the Trade-In home page located at http://dell.eztradein.com, select a product category, enter the required information and click "Get Estimate." You will receive a summary and an instant fair market value estimate. To accept the estimate and proceed with a trade, click â¬Ücontinue' and either log-in if you are an existing trade-in customer or register to create a personal trade-in account. Next, you must agree to and accept the terms and conditions then complete the trade-in transaction. You will be sent a confirmation page providing shipping instructions and a link to a prepaid printable shipping label. Carefully pack the item(s) to protect them from damage in transit, affix the label to the package and call to arrange UPS pick-up or you may drop off at any UPS location. You will receive email confirmations at various stages in the process and should receive your Dell gift card in the mail about 2-3 weeks after receipt at the trade-in center.
Do I have to register to use the Dell Exchange Trade-In Program web site?
No. You may receive free fair market value quotes without registering but to proceed with a trade, must register for a personal trade-in account.
Do I have to make a purchase to use the Dell Exchange Trade-In Program web site?
No. Unlike many trade-in programs, Dell Exchange does not require that you make a purchase in order to complete a trade. From time to time, Dell may elect to offer special trade-in bonus promotions requiring proof of a recent Dell purchase however those promotions will be optional to the standard trade-in program.
Can I save the information I enter to reference later?
As a registered user of the Dell Exchange Trade-In Program, you have the ability to save multiple quotes and reference or update them as needed. Remember, fair market value estimates are valid for only 30 days from the date of estimate.
How are the trade-in cash back values determined?
The trade-in center will perform an inspection upon receipt of trade-in item. Because condition of the item plays a part of the value, the trade-in center provides definitions of the condition levels that apply for each type of product on our site. The condition level definitions can be viewed by clicking on the question mark link on the trade-in calculator. In order to be eligible for this program, your item must be fully functional, and free of any technical issues. If the unit is not fully functional, it would receive no value as a part of this program.
The values for each category are determined by the actual sale prices of second-hand equipment, as sold on the market over the past 90 days. The features, condition, included accessories, and age of the unit all contribute to the final verified value. The trade-in calculator pools data from various online markets to determine an accurate value for the item you wish to trade-in, in the condition that it is presently in. The trade-in estimate that you receive equals a large percentage of the actual resale value less overhead expenses such as the free prepaid shipping label and processing costs.
How is the money for the trade disbursed?v
Dell Exchange fair market value will be disbursed via a Dell gift card (TERMS AND CONDITIONS APPLY) mailed to the address you provided in your personal trade-in account. Dell Gift Cards are valid for any orders purchased through Dell, where you will find thousands of products from hundreds of big-name brands.
Does Dell Exchange run special offers or promotions?
From time to time, a Dell product category may run a special enhanced trade-in promotion which will be communicated on the Dell Exchange trade-in site. In general, these programs run from 30-60 days and offer a better trade-in value for a specific trade-in scenario, often tied to the purchase of new Dell products. Be sure to read the unique terms and conditions that apply to the featured trade-in offers as they may differ from the standard Trade-In program terms and conditions.
What products will the Dell Exchange program accept in trade?
Dell exchange will accept any brand product in the following categories: laptop and desktop PCs, digital SLR cameras, digital point and shoot cameras, servers, multimedia projectors, home audio receivers, mobile phones, car audio receivers, portable GPS systems, flat-panel computer monitors, camcorders, video game console systems, PDAs and handheld computers and Apple iPods. Eligible product categories are subject to change without notice.
What if the condition of my product is different from what I represented when initiating my trade in?
To receive your Dell gift card, you must accurately state your current product's condition. Dealtree will perform an inspection upon receipt of your product. If the product's condition differs materially from that which you described, Dealtree reserves the right to re-estimate your transaction quote using the same condition parameters originally available to you. You agree to state product conditions accurately and to the best of your ability based on the guidelines posted on this site. Packing and shipping recommendations should be followed in order to avoid possible damage or loss. If you follow the packing guidelines and instructions, the product should arrive in the same condition as when it left your site. If the product is damaged during shipping and there is visible damage to the packing materials (box is dented, ripped, smashed,etc.), Dealtree will manage the claims process with the courier on the customer's behalf however the final decision will reside with the courier.
If the packing is intact, but the product is not in the condition stated by you in the quote process, Dealtree will contact you directly via email clearly stating the originally quoted configuration and condition and the as-received configuration and condition and will provide a line item summary of any value differences. If you elect to cancel the trade-in transaction and have the item returned to you, you will have 72 hours from the receipt of this notification to request return shipping and will be required to pay applicable return shipping charges.
Does my trade-in product have to be in the same category as what I want to purchase?
No. You may trade in any combination of eligible items and may redeem your Dell Gift Card on any eligible purchase items according to the Dell Gift Card terms and conditions.
What does Dealtree do with the equipment they receive?
Traded items are typically refurbished and resold on the open market.
Who pays for in-bound shipping?
Your trade confirmation email will include a link to a pre-paid shipping label.
What if my products are in multiple locations?
You may only ship products associated with a given trade-in transaction from a single location. Only one pre-paid shipping waybill will be provided per transaction.
What if I cannot print my shipping label or placard?
You have up to 10 days to print the label from the UPS link found in the confirmation email or your logged in page on the trade-in site. After 10 days, you must cancel and resubmit your trade to receive a new shipping label.
What if I lose my Dell Exchange Trade-In shipping instructions email?
Contact Dealtree Customer Service via the online form to request that the email be re-sent.
How do I remove personal data from my computer system?
There are several ways to help ensure that your personal data is removed from your computer prior to sending it for verification. While the only way to render your data completely irrecoverable is through the destruction of the drive itself, there are measures that you can take to reduce the risks. We recommend using a reputable hard drive formatting program, one that is capable of performing a Department of Defense class erase and format of the drive. These programs typically operate in the same manner, writing new data over the old data, in order to change every byte of data on your hard drive several times, to ensure that no original data can be recovered. Please note that this method is considered to be destructive, meaning that it will remove the restore partition from your drive, rendering your operating system void. Detailed instructions on how to process your drive via this method are linked below. We only recommend this method for advanced computer users.
If you do decide to format your hard drive by using a destructive utility, we recommend the use of Darik's Boot and Nuke (DBAN) which, as an open-source software, has no fee attached to its license or use.
